M6 is suitable for lightweight applications, such as entry-level surfboards and inflatable SUPs; M8 has a stronger load-bearing capacity and is used for professional hydrofoils, electric hydrofoils, and other heavy-duty equipment. Both are compatible with FCS standard fin boxes. When installing M8, an M6 Allen wrench is required. The M6 portion can be operated by hand, but washers must be used to avoid overtightening and stripping the threads. After seawater use, rinse with fresh water and check for wear quarterly to extend its lifespan.
